User registration now active

You may have noticed that the site is in the process of being overhauled bit by bit. If you look at the right sidebar, you might have noticed that you can now register for an author's account for yourself. Doing so allows several benefits:
  1. You can create a profile page for others to learn about your interests.

  2. Your username is reserved so that others cannot post comments impersonating you.

  3. You can submit entries as drafts to be reviewed for publication. There is no more need for a "Guest Author" account, and your entries will be credited to you directly. You can participate directly in karma voting and other previously author-only benefits.

  4. You can access features of the site not available to non-registered users, such as a better search mechanism and extra sidebar information.

I saw a woman that I wanted to ask out. I didn't know it at the time, but it turned out that she lives 2 minutes from my house. I asked her if she wanted to go out sometime, and she said yes. We exchanged phone numbers, and I called her a few nights later. We made plans for the end of the month. 20 minutes later (I'm not kidding) she calls me back saying she has a boyfriend and does not think it would be a good idea if we went out. Gee, everything was fine 20 minutes before. Why the sudden change? I haven't asked her why, and I don't plan to.

That is bizarre. But you'd rather know the strange things about people right away, before you get attached to them. Either she was considering cheating on her boyfriend (I'd write someone off on that point alone), or she came up with a lie to not go on a date with you (in which case, I wouldn't spend any more time on her.)
